Gemma and Tom wanted to create an open-plan living space with a separate utility room and downstairs toilet. This tricky engineering project saw us support the first floor while the ground floor walls were removed to create the two extensions.

It was fate that brought Kantec to James Barclay’s Teddington home, where he lives with his wife and two sons. We were undertaking the refurbishment of a listed building further down Park Road, which was a very large, high-pressure project. James lived round the corner. ‘We were looking for builders to do our extension anyway, and I’d seen their boards further up the road and had watched the progress,’ said James. When a member of the team parked right outside his house, James asked for a business card and the relationship began.

Ken wanted a large kitchen-diner with a new ground-floor washroom. We lifted steels into the ceiling to create a smooth, seamless finish. This was reflected in the kitchen-diner floor, which is now level with the brand new patio.

Justine wanted a master bedroom with en-suite in the roof space and a large kitchen-diner for a more social room. The whole house was also completely refurbished.
